Travel Communication Tips

Internet-based services (such as email and messaging apps) and mobile communications are the two most reliable and convenient means of staying in touch while travelling.

Besides using your mobile phone to access the internet, you can usually find Wi-Fi in airports, hotels, cafes, and libraries. In many countries, purchasing a local SIM card or an eSIM (a digital SIM) is an affordable way to stay connected to high-speed data.

International Dialling:

If you are calling using a mobile phone, the process is simple: you can key in the ‘+’ sign followed by the Country Code. For example, if you are calling a Singaporean number from anywhere in the world, you would dial +65 followed by the phone number.

If you are using a landline, you will need to dial an “International Exit Code” before the Country Code. These codes vary depending on which country you are standing in (for example, the Exit Code for calling out of Australia is 0011).

Since these codes and country names can change, it is best to use a search engine to confirm the current Country Code and Exit Code for your specific destination before you dial.
